The history of Northville State Hospital. Construction on Northville Psychiatric Hospital started in the mid-1940s, and opened in 1952. The first patients moved into the main building on January 1, 1952. and Dr. Philip Brown was selected as the first superintendent. The patient population grew to over 2,000 by 1957.
