Koh Chang Grand Lagoona Resort also known as the „Ghost Ship Hotel“ or Galaxy Hotel is an abandoned hotel, closed down for „renovations“ a few years ago, but didn’t open again.
It is one of the creepiest and most abandoned places in Thailand. It started as a crazy dream resort on the remote southwestern point of the island in a small secret Laguna with ships being turned to floating hotels serving the guests who are long gone. Nowadays the resort is completely deserted having a huge ghost cruise ship stranded on shore since 2016.
This ship used to be a cruiseliner which was then abandoned on the coast, eventually repurposed as a luxury hotel, and abandoned again! Locals call it the ghost ship (or don’t talk about it at all) because people have killed themselves by jumping of the top, and probably because the thing is creepy as hell.
The area in which the boat sits is actually a whole resort that’s been abandoned. The whole resort also has a bunch of smaller cabins and such that are also abandoned, but probably the weirdest thing is that half of them are destroyed and dirty inside, but the other half are very organised and clean, as if housekeeping had gone through recently, although they smell pretty bad. There are a few Thai people around the area who must be maintaining the rooms, though none of them are used, since there’s no running water or electricity in most.
The whole area is very beautiful and eerie, its a lot of fun to explore the resort with maybe awesome photo ops. Also once you get too hot from exploring there is also a pristine and pretty empty beach there. It gives you a real life experience of how life will look and feel like after the apocalypse.
