Wenzhou Dolphin Bay Dream Water Park (温州海豚湾水上乐园), costing millions of Chinese yuan to build, opened to great fanfare in the summer of 2014. Guest ratings were typically high, and it enjoyed a few years of success.
But by 2017, the park’s owner had only paid back half of its debts to the construction company, leading to legal proceedings and eventual bankruptcy. Subsequent auction attempts have been unsuccessful, with the water park’s auction value diminishing from 9.7 million USD to 3.8 million USD.
At the time of exploration the Dolphin Bay Dream Water Park had been abandoned, and its foundations sinking, for two years. Urban explorers encountered security and even local who had moved into the derelict administrative building. They were farming on the property and bathing in rainwater that was collecting in the park’s rides.
