Pictures show an Abandoned McDonalds on an Alaskan former naval base that has remained preserved in time since the early 1990s. The McDonalds building was left frozen in time. Its menu board listed the ability to “dino size” a mean for an extra 60 cents, a nod to the Jurassic Park movies. Happy Meals included toys from Bobby’s World, which ran on Fox Kids from 1990 to 1998.
Established during World War II the Adak Naval Air Facility helped to increase the population of Adak to around 10,000. It helped support one of world’s northernmost McDonald’s. In 1997, however, the base was closed and McDonalds Restaurant was abandoned. By 2021 the Adak’s population had shrunk to just over 226.
