TikTok users describe mansions as spooky and scary.This was supposed to be a $1.60 billion resort community. This is known to locals as the Indian Ridge Resort. It was supposed to be a master community with retail vacation homes and a lakeside view. But instead it turned into a ghost town when the 2008 housing crisis hit.
The original lead developer Jim Shirato was fined for violating state clean water laws and five people were convicted and sentenced for their roles in a real estate fraud. Five people had ended up in federal prison.

Why are Mansions in Branson Abandoned?
Financial crisis of 2008 crisis affected the housing market. This, along with legal troubles, all but ensured that the Indian Ridge Resort project never came to be. Two companies involved with the project (Indian Ridge Resort Inc. and and North Shore Investments LLC) pleaded guilty to violating the Clean Water Act. Federal regulators shut down Columbian Bank and Trust in 2008, halting the development of mansions in Branson. The developers could not get the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation to let the project proceed. Since then mansions are abandoned.

Are there many Abandoned Mansions in Branson?
There are nine buildings and 64 buildable lots in Branson. Many were near completion when the project was shut down. The abandoned mansions are continuing their slow decay. The buildings remain unfinished in plain sight for drivers on State Highway 76.
