Remains of an artillery battery in the southernmost point of the Russian Kamchatka
In August 1945, the 945th the Soviet coastal artillery battery was based on the Cape Lopatka. The artillery battery on the Cape Lopatka was under the command of Senior Lieutenant S.I.Sokolyuk.
In 1945 the artillery battery on the Cape Lopatka provided fire support for the landing operation of the Kamchatka Soviet troops on Shumshu Island against the Japanese military forces. The heavy military ranged weapons on the Cape Lopatka preserved from that time are still clearly visible.
